IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys went back to addressing their defensive line in the final round of Saturday's draft.
Dallas used the No. 231 overall pick, the 16th selection in the seventh round, on Stanford defensive end Ben Gardner.
The 6-4, 277-pounder was a team captain and an All-Pac 12 first team member last season. Gardner played in nine games during his senior season, finishing with 19 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He possesses an impressive 39.5-inch vertical.
NFL.com's Nolan Nawrocki called Gardner, "a try-hard, overachieving, base end with desirable toughness, work habits and effort to earn a backup job."
