Cowboys spend a seventh-round pick on Northern Illinois DT Ken Bishop

IRVING â Rod Marinelli got another defensive lineman in the seventh round Saturday.
The Dallas Cowboys used the 251st overall pick on Northern Illinois defensive tackle Ken Bishop. The 6-0, 300-pounder was one of the Cowboys' official pre-draft visitors.
"On my visit I was able to speak with all the coaches," Bishop said. "They told me that they really liked me and I would really fit the system. I had a good feeling that I would have an opportunity."
Over the last two seasons at NIU, Bishop recorded 125 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks from the noseguard position.
During his visit, Bishop got a chance to spend some time with Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli. The two mainly discussed how Bishop would be used in the Tampa-2 scheme.
"Knowing that he coached one of the greatest d-tackles (Warren Sapp) as well, that really motivated me to try to be a Dallas Cowboy," Bishop said. "That was the team that I really wanted to go to."
