Cowboys rookie B.W. Webb records first INT, gives credit to Romo, Bryant
IRVING – Dallas Cowboys rookie cornerback B.W. Webb intercepted his first pass of the preseason Saturday night at AT&T Stadium. On Monday, Webb discussed the play and passed a little credit over to a pair of Cowboys offensive players.
Going against Tony Romo and Dez Bryant in practice is beginning to pay off for the fourth-round pick out of William & Mary.
"It's just stuff we see on the field when we're going against the [first-team] offense," Webb said of how Romo's helped him. "He's able to look us off and he has a quick release, so you just kind of got to get used to it. When you get in the game you're kind of ready for it because you've been going through it all week.
"Same as going against Dez. When you go against Dez every day, there's not too many receivers like him."
Webb was running inside of Cincinnati wide receiver Mohamed Sanu down the middle of the field when he picked off Andy Dalton early in the second quarter of the 24-18 Cowboys victory.
Did it make the interception any more special that it came against the Bengals' first-team offense?
"A pick is a pick," Webb responded. "I'll take it any way I can get it."
Webb was working as the nickel cornerback with Orlando Scandrick moved into the starting lineup because of Morris Claiborne's knee injury. Webb played 36 defensive snaps against the Bengals, most of any Dallas defender.
"We tried to get a shot down the middle," Dalton said. "The guy made a good play. I could have been a little bit late … but the guy made a good play."
