IRVING - The Cowboys have officially reached a five-year deal with coach Jason Garrett.
The deal is worth in excess of $5 million annually.
"He's my 'Coach of the Year,'" owner Jerry Jones said immediately after Dallas' playoff loss at Green Bay.
Linehan, who signed a one-year contract at the beginning of last season, is being offered a raise and a full title of "offensive coordinator'' to remain, assuming fellow offensive aide Bill Callahan departs (as is his wish). Defensive boss Rod Marinelli has also finalized a deal for three years to remain in Dallas.
"I think we're building it the right way,'' said Garrett, announced as the leader of a Cowboys staff that will coach the NFC in the Pro Bowl. "Absolutely I want to be here.''
And so he will.
