CHICAGO - It was middle linebacker Sean Lee's intention to return from a hamstring injury in time to lead his Dallas Cowboys charging into December.
Instead, on Monday night in Chicago, the Cowboys entered the month with an embarrassing performance against the Bears and Lee exited the game with yet another injury, this time to his neck.
Lee will undergo an MRI on Tuesday in Dallas on his neck, which was injured after suffering two separate blows.
Lee said that he feels he can be ready for the Cowboys' next game, on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Going into the game, Lee acknowledged his need to stay healthy and his team's need to win some late-season games.
"We need to win," Lee said a few days before the Cowboys kicked off in the 10-degree weather at Soldier Field that makes this the chilliest regular-season game in franchise history. "We have had two chances, two years in a row, to put ourselves in the playoffs. We haven’t gotten it done. Until we can get over that hump, until we can win games in December and finish the season and take it into the playoffs, we are going to have that image. We are going to be a team that can’t finish."
The Cowboys are now 7-6 and a game behind Philadelphia in the NFC East. Dallas retains hope that for the third straight year it will play for the division title in Week 17; the Cowboys have lost that games two straight years but this season close with the Eagles at AT&T Stadium.
Now there is concern that they might have to play their way toward that game without their again-injured leader.
