Cowboys' Kiffin: Put the loss on me, not Romo

IRVING, Texas – Cowboys defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin tried to intercept the blame directed at quarterback Tony Romo for Sunday's 51-48 loss to Denver.

Romo passed for a franchise-record 506 yards while dueling with Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning all afternoon, but his final pass was intercepted to set up the Denver's game-winning field goal.

"I want to say this: People will say 'Tony Romo throws the interceptions and he can't win the big one,'" Kiffin said Wednesday at the team's Valley Ranch facility. "He went toe-to-toe with one of the best ever in the game of football and will be in the Hall of Fame. But don't put that on him, you put that one on me. But don't put that one on Tony Romo. We've got to play better. We do."
