SYDNEY (AP) Australia fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile faces a ''lengthy rehabilitation'' from a serious back injury after returning home from the one-day series against Sri Lanka.

Australia team physiotherapist David Beakley said the bowler's latest injury was serious and his return to play would be ''be determined in due course.''

Beakley said ''Nathan underwent an MRI scan which has unfortunately revealed a lumbar bone stress injury in his lower back.''

Coulter-Nile made his international debut in 2013 but has played only 16 one-day internationals since, hampered by injuries. He was due to make his test debut last year before suffering a shoulder injury and previously missed the 2015 World Cup because of hamstring injuries.
