Former Arizona State baseball player Cory Hahn is continuing his mission to aid spinal cord research by participating for a second time in the Red Bull Wings for Life World Run on Sunday, May 3, in Santa Clarita, Calif.
Hahn, now 23, was paralyzed early in the third games of his freshman season at ASU when his head collided with the leg of an opposing second baseman. He has continued his involvement in baseball as an assistant to the head of scouting for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
He also serves as an ambassador for the Wings For Life spinal cord research foundation.
The Wings for Life World Run is a race held simultaneously in 35 global locations. Each race has no set finish line -- runners attempt to travel the most distance while staying ahead of "catcher cars" that serve as a moving finished line.
The race was first held last year with more than 35,000 participants and raised more than $4.1 million. One hundred percent of registration fees support spinal cord research.
