This week, our own Kevin Goheen was at Bengals mini-camp, and reported back on the progress that quarterback Andy Dalton has been making on his long passes.
Goheen reports that Dalton's biggest weakness has been his ability to hit A. J. Green with deep passes on a consistent basis, as was underlined by his overthrow in the 19-13 playoff loss to Houston.
Joe Wolchak delivered a great comment in response. Here's what he had to say;
"The gist I get out this report and the Bengals probs last two years is that in a nutshell, Andy wasn't very Dandy, missing too many open AJ Greens and others. The one in last year's game to Green @ 19-13, late, was inexcusable to me.AJ was wide open and Andy just didn't deliver it. I hope, but @ the same time doubt / wonder if he can improve enough in one short off season. To tell the truth, I saw some other sophomore and rookie QBs throw more accurately and consistently so last year. He'll have no excuse this year with an improved O line, and new and healed receivers. ( will Sanu endure a full season ? )As to Adam, below, I agree he has to prove himself THIS year,.... @ least with a playoff win, or beating a FEW .500+ teams. Forget an unlikely SB appearance."
Well said, Joe! Thanks for bringing our favorite comment of the day!
