College president talks serious smack in Madden challenge to students

Columbia College (Mo.) president Dr. Scott Dalrymple is brand-new to the job, but clearly the man knows a way to a student's heart: free textbooks and video games.
As part of Dalrymple's inauguration festivities, he will host a Madden 25 tournament (PS4) on Oct. 17, the winner of which will advance to a championship against the president, "a formidable gamer in his own right." Dalrymple says in the video:
"You can play as any team you'd like -- the St. Louis Rams, the Dallas Cowboys, the Chicago Bears -- you can even choose a professional team. I'll be playing as the greatest team in the history of professional sports, which is, of course, the Buffalo Bills."
All at once, that's a great burn on three 0-1 teams and a boost for the Bills, whose fans are riding high over reports that Sabres owner Terry Pegula will assume ownership of the team in a $1.4 billion sale.
"If you somehow defeat the president," the challenge says, "he'll personally buy your textbooks for the academic year."
Great gesture by Dalrymple, but I guarantee this unintended consquence: at least a few students will skip classes this month in order to prepare. But hey, free books!
