For such a quiet period in college basketball, some strange things certainly happened. Georgetown moved into the Associated Press top 25 and promptly lost to Xavier. St. John's was cruising along and then lost to Seton Hall in the Big East opener for both teams. Welcome to the power rankings, Pirates. Wichita State lost to George Washington. Washington was shocked by Stony Brook. Ohio State lost a Big Ten home opener. Florida forward Jacob Kurtz accidentally tipped in a Florida State miss at the buzzer and the Gators lost again. You don't see that often. Freshman Daniel Hamilton missed three free throws at the end of overtime, and defending national champion UConn lost to Temple in its American Athletic Conference opener.
