It's every golfer's dream to go from tee to hole in a single shot.
Most will never accomplish the feat. Some will get that elusive hole-in-one and talk about it for a lifetime.
Then there's the case of Oakland (Mich.) University's Kassandra Komma, who recorded two aces in a single round Wednesday afternoon at R&S Sharf Golf Course, Oakland's home course, in Rochester, Mich.
Komma got her first-ever hole-in-one on No. 3 -- a 177-yard, par-3 -- using a 4-iron.
She followed that up with another ace on the very next par-3, No. 7, which measures 108 yards. Komma made the odds-defying shot with a pitching wedge.
"Honestly, I'm still in awe," Komma said Friday. "I should have played the lottery."
According to the National Hole-in-One Registry, the odds of a player making two holes-in-one in the same round are 67 million to 1.
"Still hard to believe, but there were witnesses," said Russ Cunningham, Komma's coach at Oakland, who got word of the aces via a text message. "It's just one of those unexplainable things."
Komma carded a 3-under-par 69 for the round, which was a social occasion, not official school competition. She was just out on there with a friend from the team, freshman Alyssa Albright, who recorded the above video after the second ace.
Scott MacDonald, Oakland's assistant athletic director for communications, said that Albright incorrectly identifies the hole as No. 8 in the video. It is in fact No. 7.
"There's no way, there's no way," Komma can be heard saying in the video, as she retrieves her ball from the cup on No. 7. "I don't know what to say."
Komma, a junior from Niddatal Hessen, Germany, finished sixth in the Summit League with a scoring average of 78.67 and earned second-team league accolades.
