Drew Pearson's safe hands bailed the Cowboys out of more than one tough spot during his illustrious career.

The Original 88 may have saved his most clutch reception for nearly 30 years after his playing days were over.

Prior to the kickoff of The NFL Experience on Thursday, Pearson was holding the Vince Lombardi trophy as he and members of the media rode an escalator at the Dallas Convention Center . Without warning, the escalator lurched to a sudden stop, leaving everyone aboard to grasp support.

Pearson, for his part, used one hand to grab onto the escalator's railing... with the other keeping a firm grip on the trophy.

"I never dropped it," he quipped afterward, according to The Dallas Morning News.

"I never dropped anything."
