Clippers shuffle front office; promote Doc Rivers

The Clippers announced a major reorganization of their basketball operations Monday, one that includes a new title for coach Doc Rivers and the demotion of Gary Sacks from vice president of basketball operations to assistant general manager.
Rivers, the team's senior vice president of basketball operations, now becomes president of basketball operations as well as head coach.
Kevin Eastman, an assistant coach last season and a member of Rivers' coaching staff for nine years, was named vice president of basketball operations and will report to Rivers, the team said.
Dave Wohl, a former coach of the New Jersey Nets who worked as the Clippers director of professional scouting last season, takes over as general manager. Wohl has been an assistant general manager with the Boston Celtics and also has worked on the staffs of the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings and Lakers.

Sacks, who has worked for the Clippers for 20 years, was the team's director of player personnel for two years before being named vice president of basketball operations last year. He will work directly under Wohl.
In a statement released by the team, Rivers said: "I am extremely excited to work closely with Kevin, Dave and Gary in their new roles as we continue to move the culture of the Clippers forward. Our goals are not only to become a championship team, but a championship organization as well. I feel with the new structure of the basketball operations department, we have taken a positive step in that direction."
