Cleveland Indians news and notes May 2nd

The Indians have claimed OF Ezequiel Carrera off waivers from Philadelphia, the team announced Thursday.
To make room on 40-man roster, first baseman Mike McDade has been designated for assignment.
Carrera, who is making his second stint with the team, played in 116 games for the Indians between 2011-2012. After losing out on a roster spot this spring to super-utility man Ryan Raburn, Carrera was DFA'd and claimed by the Phillies.
The Phillies DFA'd Carrera earlier this week to make room for Delmon Young, who was activated off the DL. In 13 games with the Phils, Carrera was 1-for-13.
The speedy outfielder will fill in for the injured Michael Bourn, who is expected to return to the team in the next week or two after he completes a minor league rehab assignment.
Carrera's Indians reunion will likely be short lived. He is out of minor league options, meaning the team will have to place him back on waivers once Michael Bourn is activated off the DL.
Mike McDade was hitting .230 with no homeruns and seven RBI through 21 games with the Columbus Clippers.
