Cavs nab third seed, bye in summer tourney

It's been a fine summer for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and the Cavaliers, and now comes their chance to really shine.
The Cavs, unbeaten in three games, gained the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the Las Vegas Summer League tournament, which tips off Wednesday. The Cavs face the winner of the Rockets-Raptors game Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
The Bulls hold the top seed in the 24-team field, followed by the Knicks. The Cavs, Wizards and Jazz, respectively, round out the top five.
Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, leads the Cavs in scoring at 14.0 points per game and rebounding at 8.3 per game. Wiggins, the first overall pick this year, is averaging 13.7 points.
Meanwhile, second-year point guard Matthew Dellavedova is averaging 11.7 points and is tied for third in the Vegas league with 4.7 assists.
David Blatt is coaching the summer team as he prepares for his first NBA season. Blatt spent 20-plus years coaching overseas, most recently with Maccabi Tel Aviv (2010-14).
