The Tampa Bay Rays released a list of eight candidates to become of their next manager. Two are familiar to Indians fans in Manny Acta and Kevin Cash.
Cash, who is a Tampa native, is the Tribe's bullpen coach and interviewed for the Rangers' opening that went to Jeff Banister. Cash was in the Rays organization in 2005-06, spending most of his time in Triple-A Durham.
Acta was the Indians' manager from 2010-12, compiling a 214-266 record. He has six years of managerial experience and some who cover the Rays have considered him a darkhorse pick because of that.
Dave Martinez, who was the Rays' bench coach under Joe Maddon, is considered the favorite.
