NEW YORK (AP) Caroline Thomas rallied up the fence to win the $85,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares by 2 1/2 lengths Sunday at Belmont Park.
Apprentice jockey Taylor Rice saved ground behind horses along the inside before finding an opening in deep stretch. Caroline Thomas, a 4-year-old trained by Barclay Tagg, responded with her fourth win in 16 starts.
She paid $9.10, $4.30 and $3.10. The time was 1:48.14 for 1 1/8 miles on the turf course rated good.
Gathering returned $5.20 and $3.70, and Clearbrook paid $5.50 to show.
