Cardinals recall catcher Ed Easley from Memphis

The St. Louis Cardinals announced Friday that they have recalled catcher Ed Easley from Triple A Memphis.

Easley, 29, will be joining the major league club for the second time this season, after a stint with St. Louis from May 27-June 18. He made his big-league debut May 29 against the Dodgers in a pinch-hit at-bat, reaching on an error. He pinch-hit a second time on June 8 at Colorado and picked up his first major league RBI with a sacrifice fly, staying in to catch the final four innings.

Easley hit .251 at Memphis over 88 games, catching 52 games and playing at first base in nine (seven starts). In his last eight starts at Memphis he hit .423 (11 for 26) with eight RBIs, including a pair of three-RBI games.
