VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Alex Biega scored the winner in his first NHL game and the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-2 Monday.
Henrik Sedin, with a goal and an assist, and Bo Horvat also scored for Vancouver.
Eddie Lack made 20 saves to get the win.
Nino Niederreiter scored twice for Minnesota, which got 26 saves from Devan Dubnyk.
Former Canucks forward Jordan Schroeder picked up two assists for the Wild, who entered 8-0-1 over their past nine and lost in regulation for the first time since Jan. 19 as the club continues to push for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Vancouver broke a 1-1 tie at 1:33 of the final period on the seventh goal of Horvat's impressive rookie season. Dubnyk stopped Jannik Hansen's shot from the high slot, but the puck spilled into the crease for Horvat, who tapped it home with a diving effort.
Recalled from the AHL by the Canucks earlier in the day with No. 1 defense pairing Alexander Edler and Christopher Tanev both out injured, Biega scored his first in the NHL on a blast from the point through traffic at 11:54 of the third.
Niederreiter got one back for Minnesota at 13:35 on his second of the game, but Lack held on the rest of the way despite a chaotic final minute in the Vancouver crease.
Down 1-0 after the first period, Vancouver tied the score 42 seconds into the second on Henrik Sedin's 10th goal of the season. Dubnyk stopped Daniel Sedin's initial shot on a 3-on-1 break, but the rebound went right to his twin brother, who beat the Minnesota goalie through the pads.
Alex Burrows then rang a shot off the post behind Dubnyk with less than eight minutes to go.
With two wins over the Canucks already this month, including last Monday's 5-3 victory in Minnesota, the Wild almost restored their lead late in the period, but Lack stopped Thomas Vanek on a breakaway.
Niederreiter scored his 17th of the season at 8:55 of a sleepy first period when Schroeder, who signed with Minnesota in the summer, moved down the right side and threw a pass in front of Lack's goal. Niederreiter flubbed his shot, but the puck had enough steam to find its way over the line.
Dubnyk came into Monday with a 10-1-1 record since being acquired by the Wild in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes last month and had to be sharp on shot by Horvat later in the period before snagging Burrows' attempt in the final minute.
