Canton racking up road victories

The Canton Charge (15-13), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce (22-6), 103-97, at the Sanford Pentagon on Wednesday night. The victory gives Canton eight wins in their last nine road games.

Quinn Cook led Canton with 30 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 11-of-12 from the foul line to go along with seven assists in 38 minutes. Nick Minnerath came off the bench to score 21 points and grab five rebounds in 24 minutes of relief. John Holland added 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting in 35 minutes. Jorge Gutierrez provided an all-around effort of 10 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and three steals in 29 minutes.

Canton led for the entire second half and by as many as 15 in the fourth quarter. Sioux Falls made a late push by hitting 13-of-20 shots (65%) in the fourth, but never came within two possessions. The Charge knocked down 27-of-30 free throws (90%) in the game, while the Skyforce outscored Canton 66-34 in the paint.

Tre Kelley scored a game-high 23 points and dished eight assists in 39 minutes for Sioux Falls. Bubu Palo and Keith Benson each scored 19 points for the Skyforce, while Briante Weber added 14 points, nine boards, six assists, and three steals in 37 minutes off the bench.

Canton keeps up with Central Division play with a road matchup at the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Indiana Pacers affiliate) on Friday, February 5th at 7:30 p.m. The Charge return home to the Civic Center on Tuesday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m. against the Grand Rapids Drive (Detroit Pistons affiliate).
