Call dooms Miggy's NFL fantasy team

DETROIT -- Miguel Cabrera may win baseball’s first Triple Crown in 45 years, but his week began with a setback.

He has the Green Bay Packers defense in the Detroit Tigers’ fantasy football league.

Cabrera -- under the team name “Give Him His Due” -- was defeated by teammate Rick Porcello, 117-114, on the controversial final play of Monday night’s Packers-Seahawks game. The Packers lost points for Cabrera when they surrendered the decisive score in Seattle’s 14-12 victory.

Cabrera’s team, managed by Tigers video operations coordinator Jeremy Kelch, lost three points after the league’s replacement officials ruled that Golden Tate caught the winning touchdown pass from Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson. The call has sparked outrage in the sports world.

“We told him what happened when he came in today,” Kelch said before the Tigers and Kansas City Royals played Tuesday night. “He just shook his head.”

Cabrera apparently didn’t watch the game live. When asked to comment on the turn of events, he replied, “They can’t change the call now?”

Apparently not.
