Cabrera to undergo surgery this week

Miguel Cabrera will have surgery this week to repair a serious groin injury, the team confirmed Monday.
Cabrera told ESPN Deportes the surgery was planned for Tuesday in Philadelphia.
Cabrera, already playing through other injuries, was still
threatening to become the first player in major-league history to win
back-to-back Triple Crowns when he suffered the groin injury.
He hit
.278 in September but with very little power, and hit
.262 with two homers in 11 postseason games.
Despite the slow finish, Cabrera won his third straight American
League batting title and also led the league in on-base percentage and
slugging percentage.
He finished second in both homers and RBIs to
Baltimore's Chris Davis, and is expected to win his
second straight MVP award next month.
