TAMPA, Fla. -- One potential free agent with Tampa Bay Buccaneers ties won't be hitting the market next Tuesday.

Linebacker Jonathan Casillas was re-signed to a one-year deal, the team announced Friday night. He joined the Bucs before last season after spending four campaigns with the New Orleans Saints from 2009 to 2012, where he was a member of the Super Bowl XLIV title team as a rookie out of Wisconsin.

Casillas, 26, played in 12 games with four starts for Tampa Bay last season and recorded 25 tackles, two passes defensed and one forced fumble. For his career, he has played in 50 games with 11 starts and has 127 tackles, six passes defensed, three sacks and two forced fumbles.

Casillas made $1.4 million last year, and he figures to be a quality depth piece within the linebackers corps and on special teams if he remains healthy. On Dec. 4, he was placed on injured reserve with a knee issue that required surgery.
