TAMPA, Fla. -- New Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon has good words to say about his predecessor.
On Wednesday, Glennon said Josh Freeman has been "supportive" and a "great teammate" since the switch was made Sept. 25. The past week has included drama after drama with this team, but Glennon's thoughts reveal perhaps Freeman has taken a high road with the rookie behind closed doors.
"Josh has been great," Glennon said. "He has been so supportive. He has been nothing but a great teammate to me, and I really respect him for that. I can't say what he's going through, but I imagine it's a tough time, because it would be for me. But he has been a great teammate and has always been there for me. His attitude toward me has not changed."
Mostly, Freeman has remained silent since the switch. Outside of an unauthorized ESPN interview last Thursday, and a strong statement after his medical information was leaked Monday, the fifth-year player has shared little.
But it appears Freeman has helped the third-round pick along the way, including giving Glennon advice after two interceptions were thrown in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
"He just said after the game it's a long journey," Glennon said. "It's one game for a whole career. Just learn from it and keep your head up. It's a long journey."
Guard Davin Joseph also provided refreshing perspective concerning Freeman.
"There's life out there for anybody," Joseph said Wednesday. "Just because this might not be the place for Josh doesn't mean that his career is over with. He has a bright career ahead of him. He has all the tools in the toolbox. It's just about finding the right fit for Josh. I think it's to come."
