TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made moves Monday in advance of the NFL deadline to trim rosters from 90 to 75 players by the end of business Tuesday.

Those waived include wide receiver Carlton Mitchell, defensive end Ernest Owusu, quarterback Adam Weber and defensive end Markus White. The Bucs also released wide receiver Derek Hagan, fullback Spencer Larsen and safety Troy Nolan.

In addition, Tampa Bay announced that cornerback Anthony Gaitor (torn ACL in left knee) and running back Michael Smith (torn foot ligament) were placed on injured reserve. Gaitor, who has 12 tackles in 12 games in two seasons, was injured last Saturday night in the preseason victory over the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium. Smith appeared in one game (Week 1 vs. the Carolina Panthers) with no carries in 2012.

Tight end Mike Shanahan, a college free agent (Pittsburgh) who spent training camp with the New York Jets, also was signed.
