The Milwaukee Bucks continue to bring back familiar faces, as they have acquired veteran point guard Luke Ridnour from the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of a three-team trade.
Along with Ridnour, the Bucks received a 2014 second-round pick from the Timberwolves and cash considerations from the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Bucks send the draft rights to 2003 second-round pick Szymon Szewczyk as part of the deal.
Oklahoma City signed shooting guard Kevin Martin to a contract and traded him to Minnesota along with cash considerations. In order for the Timberwolves to have the cap space to add Martin, they had to shed the $4.32 million owed to Ridnour next season in the final year of his contract.
Ridnour, 32, averaged 11.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game last season, starting all 82 games for Minnesota.
Acquired by the Bucks in a three-team trade in 2008, Ridnour spent two seasons with Milwaukee before signing as a free agent with Minnesota. Ridnour averaged 9.6 points and 10.4 points per game in his two seasons with the Bucks, starting 50 games during the 2008-09 season and coming off the bench for all 82 games in 2009-10.
Selected by the Seattle SuperSonics with the 14th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, Ridnour spent the first five years of his career in Seattle before being traded to the Bucks. Milwaukee acquired Ridnour, Adrian Griffin and Damon Jones in the deal, sending point guard Mo Williams to Cleveland and small forward Desmond Mason to Oklahoma City.
Ridnour has career averages of 10.0 points and 4.8 assists over 722 games, shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 35.1 percent on 3-pointers.
The Bucks have now brought three of their former players back to the organization this offseason, as Ridnour joins center Zaza Pachulia and small forward Carlos Delfino in returning to Milwaukee.
