TAMPA, Fla. — Darrelle Revis appears on track to play Week 1 against his former team.

On Tuesday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano said there have been no setbacks with the four-time Pro Bowl cornerback and that Revis remains a day-to-day case as the Sept. 8 opener at the New York Jets approaches. There had been some talk that Revis, working his way back from tearing the ACL in his left knee last September, would play last Saturday in a preseason game against the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium, but Tampa Bay opted to have him not dress and watch from the sidelines instead.

"There hasn't been any setbacks, which is the good thing," Schiano said. "As I've said all along, we've kind of built in a little buffer for setbacks. So everything looks good."

Revis, 28, practiced with the top defense Tuesday, though it is unlikely that he will play Thursday in the Bucs' preseason finale against the Washington Redskins at Raymond James Stadium. In recent weeks, Schiano has said he doesn't need to see Revis play in the preseason to know the three-time All-Pro player will be ready come the start of the regular season.

"As I've said every time, it's day-to-day," Schiano said. "Like I don't know what tomorrow morning is going to bring. So we'll just kind of keep playing it by ear."
