Bruce Springsteen's legendary 'Born in the U.S.A' tour ended 30 years ago at L.A. Coliseum
The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has played host to many great events. Olympics, Super Bowls, the game with the largest attendance in MLB history. Thirty years ago, the venerable venue was home to the final three shows of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's "Born in the U.S.A." tour.
The tour turned The Boss from a rock superstar into a mega-star. There were seven hit singles on the album -- this was the high time for videos on MTV -- and the tour grossed nearly $90 million, more than a third of it from the sold-out stadium shows.
The final show of the triumphant trio was an epic 32-song marathon. It opened with the title track from "Born in the U.S.A" and finished with a nine-song encore that featured, "Born To Run", "Ramrod", "Twist and Shout", "Travelin' Band", "Rockin All Over the World", and appropriately, "Glory Days" as the finale.
Overall, Springsteen played 91 songs over the run, providing a perfect ending to a remarkable run.
