The reshaping of a Cleveland Browns receiving corps that's apparently planning for life without its best player continued Friday as the Browns waived Greg Little, the team officially announced.
Little was entering the last year of his rookie contract. He had his moments in three seasons but never produced with any consistency.
The timing of the move is curious, though it comes a day after the Browns added veteran wide receivers Miles Austin and Earl Bennett. Last week, reports surfaced that 2013 NFL receiving champion Josh Gordon is facing a long suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
There is no final answer to that situation. The Browns did not draft a receiver last weekend.
Outside of Gordon, the Browns had the league's worst wide receiver situation last year -- and now, both Davone Bess and Little have been released. Little caught 41 passes for 465 yards last season, the least productive of his three seasons with the Browns.
Little will turn 25 later this month.
In addition to Miles and Bennett, the Browns added Andrew Hawkins and Nate Burleson via free agency. Last season, they signed wide receiver Charles Johnson from Green Bay's practice squad only to find Johnson had a torn ACL when he reported to the Browns.
He's still on the roster, as are holdovers Josh Cooper, Conner Vernon and Tori Gurley.
