Browns make roster moves

BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns signed LS Charley Hughlett to the active roster from Kansas City's practice squad and activated DL John Hughes (knee) from injured reserve-designated for return. To make room on the roster, the club placed DL Ishmaa'ily Kitchen (leg) and QB Johnny Manziel (hamstring) on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday.
Hughlett is 6-4, 248-pounds and officially in his first NFL season. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Dallas in 2012, Hughlett has spent time with the Cowboys, Patriots, Jaguars, Browns and Chiefs. Earlier this season, he spent Week 5 on the Browns practice squad. Hughlett was a four-year letterman at Central Florida and is a native of Tampa, Fla.
Hughes sustained an injury to his medial collateral ligament against Oakland on Oct. 26 and was placed on injured reserve-designated for return on Oct. 27. He has appeared in four games with two starts and registered 10 tackles and one pass defensed this season.
Kitchen suffered a leg injury in the fourth quarter at Carolina on Dec. 21. He appeared in 12 games with three starts and registered 43 tackles.
Manziel sustained a hamstring injury in the second quarter at Carolina. He started two games this season and completed 18 of 35 passes for 175 yards and added nine rushes for 29 yards.
