CLEVELAND (AP) -- Browns starting linebacker Karlos Dansby will not return to their game against the Texans after injuring his knee.

Dansby was hurt on a running play midway through the second quarter. He pounded the ground in frustration before limping off the field under his own power. He was examined on the sideline before he walked slowly to the locker room for treatment.

At the start of the second half, the Browns announced Dansby would not be back.

Dansby has had a major impact in his first season with the Browns, whose defense has struggled against the run. His loss along with a season-ending knee injury to massive end Phil Taylor will put further stress on Cleveland's depleted front seven.

Dansby entered Sunday's game as the team's leader in tackles with 69. He also has three sacks and an interception.
