It makes sense that the Browns might be trying to lock up one of the people who became an offensive difference-maker before his contract runs out.
The team has reportedly had talks with tight end Jordan Cameron about a long-term deal but those discussions are going "without success," according to ESPNCleveland.com's Tony Grossi.
Cameron had a breakout season in 2013, earning a Pro Bowl spot after putting up 917 yards and seven touchdowns on 80 catches.
Whether Cameron can replicate those numbers in a new system is up for debate, as former offensive coordinator Norv Turner's offense was widely viewed as perennially tight-end friendly.
From the Browns' perspective, you'd have to imagine they want to avoid the situation that unfolded with Pro Bowl center Alex Mack this offseason. After they placed a transition tag on Mack, he signed a deal with the Jaguars before Cleveland matched the offer sheet.
The 25-year-old Cameron currently makes $465,000.
