Four-star wide receiver Devon Allen out of Phoenix Brophy Prep is headed to Oregon.
Initially reported by Scout.com's Inna Lazarev, Allen, a dual-sport athlete in track and football, gave his verbal commitment to Oregon on Friday.
Allen is the first player to commit to the Ducks under new head coach Mark Helfrich, who was promoted from offensive coordinator after Chip Kelly left to take over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Allen's commitment came on the same day Oregon reportedly hired former
Duke coach Matt Lubick as wide receivers coach to replace Scott
Frost, who is expected to be promoted to offensive coordinator.
Allen only had a track offer from Oregon until recently, when the Ducks offered him for football as well. He joins Darren Carrington as wide receivers in Oregon's 2013 class.
Ranked the No. 16 receiver nationally by Scout, Allen had offers from at least 25 schools, including Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Stanford, Arizona State, Arizona and several other Pac-12 schools.
