Bronies and pro soccer players, an interesting scene

The Montreal Impact are in town to take on the Columbus Crew on Saturday night. In fact, they've arrived at their hotel in downtown Columbus, and were just spotted taking all their gear to their rooms.
It's a common scene in sports, every professional game has one visiting team that will be staying at a hotel during the trip. But it's a different scene here….
The Montreal Impact are staying at the same hotel as TrotCon, a three-day convention for fans of the TV series "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic".
So you can imagine what that looked like around the elevators, with Impact players getting on at the same time as people dressed up like Rainbow Dash and Pinkie-Pie.
Disclaimer - I know this because I brought my 14-year-old daughter to the convention. Shut up. I may get Father Of The Year for this, you know.
Anyway, to explain the scene better….there were about a dozen players in the lobby waiting to board the bank of elevators. Each one had a large amount of luggage and gear, and they were all dressed in Adidas running suits. Matching. Very professional-athlete-looking.
All around them were people ranging from 7 years old to 40 years old, most of whom were dressed for TrotCon. Lots of hoodies with multi-colored manes flowing from the head. Furry costumes. Hair dyed every color of the rainbow. They call themselves Bronies and Pegasisters.
And they were both laughing and joking with each other outside the elevators.
You could tell some of the Impact were a bit confused by what they saw, but most were chatting with their fellow residents at the Sheraton.
Indeed, I will see plenty of unusual sights this weekend. But that one tops them all, right from the start.
