Bristedt gets first career hat trick, Gophers sweep Penn State
The No. 7 Minnesota Golden Gophers men's hockey team followed Friday's 5-1 win over No. 4/6 Penn State with another high-scoring win, 5-2, at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis on Saturday to earn their third straight win and a sweep of the Nittany Lions.
Penn State (16-6-2, 5-4-1-0 Big Ten) outshot the Gophers 40-28, but U of M goalie Eric Schierhorn set a career high with 38 saves.
Leon Bristedt scored his first career hat trick with goals while shorthanded, on the power play and at even strength.
Brent Gates Jr. and Taylor Cammarata also lit the lamp for Minnesota (17-7-2, 8-2-0-0 Big Ten), which has now won six straight games at home.
Next up, Minnesota plays a Friday-Saturday series at Ohio State on Feb. 10-11.
