Right-hander Brian Wilson had another smooth outing Friday night, retiring all three batters he faced in relief for the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate at Albuquerque.
Wilson needed just seven pitches after throwing eight pitches Wednesday night for Class A Rancho Cucamonga. He got two ground outs and one fly-ball out.
The Dodgers want to see how the right-hander, who is coming off reconstructive surgery on his pitching elbow, reacts to working on a frequent basis. Manager Don Mattingly said the team wants him to pitch on back-to-back days and three times in four days before adding him to the roster.
He’s expected to remain in Albuquerque for about a week.
Wilson, 31, will most likely be used in late-inning situations as a setup man for closer Kenley Jansen.
"We want him in important innings," Mattingly said, “but we really want everybody in that mix."
