Brewers sign seven players to contracts

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers announced Friday that they've agreed to one-year contracts with seven players on their 40-man roster.
Catcher Martin Maldonado, reliever Jim Henderson and infielder Taylor Green join minor league prospects Khris Davis, infielder Scooter Gennett, outfielder Josh Prince and right-handed pitcher Nick Bucci as players signing contracts for 2013.
Maldonado, 26, hit .266 with eight home runs and 30 RBI for the Brewers in 2012, and is expected to make the club in 2013 as the backup catcher.
Henderson is expected to be a key cog in Milwaukee's bullpen. Making his major league debut last season for the Brewers, the 30-year-old had a 3.52 ERA and three saves in 36 games.
Less certain to make the roster, Green will fight for a spot on Milwaukee's bench. He appeared in 58 games for the Brewers in 2012, hitting just .184 with three home runs and 14 RBI.
