The Milwaukee Brewers have optioned right-hander Michael Olmsted to Triple-A Nashville, making the race for the final bullpen spots a bit more clear.

Olmsted, 25, allowed just one run in his first five spring training innings, but has struggled of late, allowing five earned runs in his last 5 1/3 innings. Olmsted has a 5.23 ERA with three saves in 11 spring training outings.

An intriguing power arm with fastball in the mid-90's, Olmsted has posted impressive numbers in the minor leagues the past two seasons in the Boston organization. Signed as a free agent this offseason, the 6-foot-6, 245-pound Olmsted will likely be one of the first options the Brewers turn to if an injury strikes or struggles hit the bullpen.

With Olmsted sent out, the Brewers are down to just a few choices for the final few bullpen spots. Brandon Kintzler and Mark Rogers are the favorites for open slots, but Alfredo Figaro and Donovan Hand could still be in the mix.
