Adding to their depth on the infield, the Milwaukee Brewers claimed utility man Elian Herrera off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.
Herrera spent each of the past two seasons splitting time between Triple-A Albuquerque and the Dodgers, hitting .251 with one home run and 17 RBI in 71 career big-league games.
The switch-hitter batted .305 with 10 home runs and 83 RBI over the past two seasons in Triple-A, playing second base, third base, shortstop and all three outfield positions for Albuquerque.
Herrera, who will be 29 years old when spring training begins, has one minor-league option remaining. His addition leaves Milwaukee's 40-man roster at 36.
