Breaking down the Clippers' 2014-15 schedule, it's time to get excited

The Clippers' offseason has been chock full of distractions, but that all ended Tuesday when Steve Ballmer's purchase of the team became final.

Now, just one day later, the NBA released its master schedule for the 2014-15 season.

So let's take a look at the Clippers' slate. Try to contain your excitement.

The Clippers' 2013 season ended with a postseason loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder; so it's only fitting that Doc Rivers and Co. start the 2014 season with OKC on October 30 at the Staples Center. The following night, Halloween night, the Clips find themselves as the road team against the Lakers.

Here are some of the other highlights from Wednesday's schedule release.

-- The Clippers will face the Warriors on four occasions: November 5 at GSW, Christmas day at Staples, March 8 at GSW, March 31 at Staples. Four nights of guaranteed fun right there.

-- By my count, the Clippers will play 19 back-to-backs, 10 of which will feature both games on the road. By comparison, the Clippers played in 17 back-to-backs last season.

-- LeBron James and the LeBronettes, potentially featuring Kevin Love, come to town on the night of January 16. Single-game tickets go on sale this Friday, so make sure to be at the front of the line if you want to see the King. The Clippers then head to Cleveland on February 5  to play the other half of the home and home. These two teams *could* see one another in the finals.

-- If you are curious to see what Derrick Rose can bring to the table after missing the better part of the last three seasons, you can do so on November 17 at Staples. These two teams will have to wait until March 1 before meeting again -- this time in Chicago.

-- Between the beginning of December and January 11, the Clippers play 16 games at home to just six on the road. The winter months aren't a bad time for a homestand.

-- It's not all roses and sunshine, though, as the Clippers then have an eight-game road trip that starts on January 28.

-- New Year's Eve features a home matchup with Phil Jackson, Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks. The Clippers travel to New York for a rematch on March 25.

-- The Clippers and Lakers are scheduled to play twice during the season's final week (April 5 & 7).

-- Perhaps the most interesting thing of all is the length of the All-Star break. Usually there are four or five days off during the break, this season brings a whopping eight days. Sounds like the perfect amount of time for a mid-season tournament.

Again, single-game tickets go on sale this Friday. Here's some information from the Clippers' website.
