TORONTO (AP) A Brazilian water polo player who competed in the Pan Am Games is wanted in an alleged sex assault, and police believe he has left Canada.

Police said Friday that Thye Bezerra and a friend visited a Toronto woman in her home July 16. They say Bezerra sexually assaulted the woman after she went to bed.

Investigators say they are seeking a warrant for his arrest across Canada. They add that he could be arrested in another country that has an extradition arrangement with Canada. Brazil and Canada do not have such an agreement.

Police say they identified the suspect after the team left Toronto. The Brazilian men's water polo team won the silver medal July 15.
