Braves name McGriff, Walker as special assistants

The Braves have brought back two familiar faces as additions to their baseball operations department.
Fred McGriff and Greg Walker were named as special assistants to baseball operations on Monday, moves made by John Hart, president of baseball operations.
McGriff, who played in Atlanta from 1993-97 and was part of the '95 World Series championship, was a consultant for the Blue Jays last season. McGriff will attend spring training as an instructor and during the regular season will focus on professional scouting.
During his 19-year career, McGriff hit .284 with 493 home runs and 1,550 RBI while playing for six different organizations.
Walker, who spent the previous three seasons as the Braves' hitting coach, will work with the organization's minor league hitters in camp and will travel to the farm team's facilities during the regular season.
