Bogar no longer on Rangers' staff

Tim Bogar ended the 2014 season as a favorite for the managing job for the Texas Rangers in 2015.
Now Bogar, who was a finalist for the job that went to Jeff Banister, will not be part of the team's major-league coaching staff.
The Rangers reached that decision Monday with Bogar, who was hired as the bench coach before the 2014 season and then went 14-8 as the interim manager after Ron Washington resigned.
"Jeff Banister and I have both had discussions with Tim over the last few days as we began the process of putting a major league coaching staff together and we have decided that is best for us to go in another direction," Texas general manager Jon Daniels said.
Daniels said that Bogar has the option of accepting another job in the organization but that Bogar will look for another job. Bogar is under contract with the Rangers though the 2015 season.
The loss of Bogar continues a makeover of the coaching staff. In addition to Bogar and Washington, third-base coach Gary Pettis has also left the Rangers to take over as the third-base coach for Houston. No decision has been made on the remainder of the current coaches. Pitching coach Mike Maddux met with Banister Friday and has said he wants to remain with the club.
Daniels and Banister are both in Surprise, Ariz., for the Rangers' organizational meetings.
