COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets begin preparations for their 13th National Hockey League season with the opening of training camp, presented by OhioHealth, next week. The Blue Jackets will hold a special luncheon for members of the media on Tuesday, September 10 beginning at 12 p.m. behind Section 111 on the main concourse at Nationwide Arena. Club President of Hockey Operations John Davidson, General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen and Head Coach Todd Richards will be available to the media immediately following lunch. Players will report for physicals at McConnell Spine, Sport & Joint Center (3773 Olentangy River Road, Columbus) beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11 with fitness testing to follow at Nationwide Arena. Players will be available to the media at Nationwide Arena between 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The team will take the ice for the first time on Thursday, September 12 at the OhioHealth Ice Haus. During training camp, all practices held at the IceHaus will be open to the public (see full schedule below) as will a full-team scrimmage scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14 on the main ice surface at Nationwide Arena.
There are 58 players scheduled to participate in this year’s training camp. The players will be divided into two groups during the first three days of camp before the club opens its preseason schedule on Sunday, September 15 vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins.
