Blackford, DeMichele lift Devils to 3-1 win

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – ­Joey DeMichele hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning and right-hander Alex Blackford pitched six solid innings as the 21st-ranked Arizona State baseball team defeated New Mexico 3-1 on Tuesday night at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, N.M.

Blackford (1-2) recorded his first win of the season , giving up one earned run on three hits over six innings. He struck out five.

DeMichele hit his sixth home run of the season in the sixth inning to help the Sun Devils (20-13) overcome a 1-0 deficit.

Jake Barrett struck out three in the ninth inning to earn his sixth save. Joseph Lopez, Matt Dunbar and Robert Ravago also pitched scoreless relief for ASU.
