Big Saturday for Ohio college basketball


Road upsets by Cincinnati and Dayton highlighted a big day for Ohio college basketball.
The biggest win of the day was Cincinnati dominating No. 18 Memphis to score a key American Athletic Conference road win behind 18 points from senior star Sean Kilpatrick.
The Bearcats (13-2) have now won six straight since losing to Xavier.
Xavier is on a seven-game win streak of its own after rallying in the second half for a 79-68 win over Butler on Saturday. Semaj Christon had 20 points and 8 assists without a turnover as Xavier got to 2-0 in the Big East.
Xavier has now won 11 straight home games heading into a Thursday night Fox Sports 1 game vs. Marquette.
On Saturday night, Dayton won at Ole Miss in overtime, 83-80, on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Devin Oliver, who scored 22 of his career-high 26 points in the second half and overtime.
Five Dayton players scored in double figures as the Flyers finished non-conference play at 12-3.
No. 3 Ohio State started the day by demolishing Nebraska, 84-53, to improve to 15-0. Five Buckeyes scored in double figures and Ohio State extended its streak of not allowing an opponent to get to 70 points. Nebraska's 53 points were a season low.
The Buckeyes got 38 bench points, 15 from Amedeo Della Valle and a career-high 13 from freshman Marc Loving.
The Buckeyes play at No. 4 Michigan State on Tuesday; the big games in the Big Ten are just beginning.
Also scoring road wins on Saturday were Cleveland State at Milwaukee and Ohio at UNC-Asheville.
Mid-American Conference play begins this week. Ohio at Kent State and 12-1 Toledo at Western Michigan on Wednesday are among the big early games.
