The Bengals signed offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse on Friday.

A fifth-year veteran, Newhouse has played 47 games including 31 starts for the Green Bay Packers.

"Marshall has played a lot of football for Green Bay; he'll be a quality addition to our line," Bengals assistant head coach and offensive line coach Paul Alexander said via a team release. "He's played left tackle and right tackle and has experience in big games."

Newhouse, who played 14 games with two starts last season, played with Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton for three seasons at TCU.

The signing of Newhouse comes a little more than a week after the Bengals lost tackle Anthony Collins, who signed a lucrative free-agent deal with the Buccaneers.

Additionally, the club announced it had waived quarterback Greg McElroy, who earlier in the day announced he is retiring from the NFL. He spent the 2013 regular season and postseason on the Bengals' practice squad.
