Bengals name Kyle Caskey as running backs coach

Kyle Caskey today was named as running backs coach of the Bengals. A fifth-year veteran of the coaching staff for 2014, Caskey has worked the last two seasons as assistant offensive line and offensive quality control coach.

Caskey replaces Hue Jackson, who will serve as Bengals offensive coordinator this season, replacing Jay Gruden, who has become head coach of the Washington Redskins.

"Kyle has worked closely with our coordinators the last few seasons," said head coach Marvin Lewis, "and with (OL coach) Paul Alexander, he's done a lot of direct work with our offensive line players. He's been in the staff meetings with the running back coaches (Jackson and predecessor Jim Anderson).

"It's all been part of the evolution of a bright young coach, and the time comes when the opportunity's there to become a position coach on your own. That's where we are with Kyle, and it's great again that we have the person in-house to promote from within."

A native of Daingerfield, Texas, Caskey played TE at Texas A&M and coached in the college ranks from 2004-09. He came to the Bengals in 2010 from the University of Mississippi.
