Bengals get hit fast and furious with injuries

Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green left Sunday's game against Atlanta due to an injured right toe in the first quarter, and he was steadily joined on the sidelines for the remainder of the game by other teammates.
Defensive tackle Brandon Thompson (left knee) and tight end Alex Smith (left biceps) left the game in the second quarter and were declared out. Right guard Kevin Zeitler suffered a right calf injury late in the second quarter on a play that resulted in running back Giovani Bernard scoring a four-yard touchdown to give the Bengals a 10-3 halftime lead.
Green started the game but left the field during Cincinnati's opening series. He missed practice time during the week with what was described as a foot injury. Green had six catches for 131 yards last week at Baltimore, including a 77-yard touchdown with 4:58 left that proved to be the deciding score in a 23-16 win.
The Bengals had 13 plays on the drive and reached the Atlanta 13-yard line before stalling and settling for a 31-yard field goal by Mike Nugent for the first points of the game.
The Bengals went into the game without wide receiver Marvin Jones (foot) and tight end Tyler Eifert (elbow). Jones is expected to miss a couple of more games with his injury. Eifert was placed on injured reserve with the designation to return later this season after suffering his injury last week at Baltimore. He is eligible to return to practice after six weeks and could be back in the lineup as soon as the Nov. 6 game against Cleveland.
Green, Jones and Eifert combined to catch 188 passes last season for 2,583 yards and 23 touchdowns last season.
